Associate Director/Principal Scientist – Mass Spec based proteomics/chemical biology

About Us: Entact Bio is a preclinical stage biotechnology company developing a new class of drugs that enhance the function of beneficial proteins. Launched by a founding team deeply rooted in deubiquitinase (DUB) biochemistry, chemical biology, disease biology, and small-molecule drug development, Entact has designed its proprietary Encompass™ platform to create enhancement-targeting chimeric (ENTAC™) medicines. ENTACs harness the ability of DUBs to regulate proteins. By leveraging this natural cellular mechanism to enhance protein function, Entact is expanding the universe of treatable diseases.

About You:  Entact Bio is seeking a highly motivated leader to join the Biological Sciences team. You will be responsible for establishing the strategy, implementation, and incorporation of chemo proteomics throughout our drug discovery efforts. You will work cross functionally with other leaders in the organization and develop the strategic vision for the proteomics platform vision at Entact Bio.  This role will be a key member of discovery project teams and will be responsible for resourcing efforts using both internal and external resources.

Qualifications:

  • Solid foundation in mass-spectrometry based proteomics.
    • Direct, hands-on experience in method development, maintaining and troubleshooting for HPLC and/or mass spectrometers.
    • Direct, hands-on experience in proteomics sample preparation.
    • Direct, hands-on experience in post translational modification analysis.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mass spectrometry techniques for protein identification and quantification.
  • Demonstrated expertise of how to develop quantitative and reproducible proteomics data sets to inform on molecular characterization in drug discovery programs.
  • Direct, hands-on experience with mass spectrometry data workflows through multiple commercial and/or open-source peptide sequence search engines. Proficiency with metadata analysis/integration using R/Matlab/Python and/or database schema a plus.
  • Experience in working on project teams.
  • Understanding of how to best utilize MS-based proteomics to address scientific questions and educate the broader team.
  • Prior experience in characterizing heterobifunctional molecules or induced proximity with proteomics a plus.
  • Prior experience in managing direct reports or providing scientific mentorship.
  • 7+ years of experience working in an industrial drug discovery environment.

As a member of our diverse and growing team, you’ll help shape us into a company that takes its scientific mission seriously while providing a positive and supportive workplace environment and culture. With your insights, passion, and talent, we’ll bring novel therapeutics to the patients who need them the most.
