Principal/Senior Scientist (Biological Sciences)

About Us:

Entact Bio is a preclinical stage biotechnology company developing a new class of drugs that enhance the function of beneficial proteins. Launched by a founding team deeply rooted in deubiquitinase (DUB) biochemistry, chemical biology, disease biology, and small-molecule drug development, Entact has designed its proprietary Encompass™ platform to create enhancement-targeting chimeric (ENTAC™) medicines. ENTACs harness the ability of DUBs to regulate proteins. By leveraging this natural cellular mechanism to enhance protein function, Entact is expanding the universe of treatable diseases.

The opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative scientist to join the Entact team. You will lead efforts to identify and validate high value targets across a range of therapeutic areas. Work as a key member of a highly collaborative Translational Biology team to drive projects from inception into the clinic. You should be able to demonstrate scientific rigor and prior success in driving target discovery efforts and the design, implementation and management of research projects. You should be interested in contributing from the bench and dedicated to mentoring junior scientists both technically and strategically.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead in a hands-on manner the implementation of genetic editing techniques in the identification and validation of new portfolio targets
  • Collaborate with molecular discovery, mechanistic biology and pharmacology teams in the prioritization of new targets entering hit finding, the design and execution of appropriate screening strategies, and the validation and triage of screening hits
  • Serve as the Biology lead on teams passionate about developing a new small molecule modality to enhance the function of validated targets
  • Partnering with key stakeholders to develop program vision and scope, strategy, milestones and risk assessment
  • Coordinate and prioritize program activities effectively between internal functional areas, external collaborators and CROs
  • Effectively communicate scientific progress to all audiences, including investors, BOD, consultants, as well as internal audiences

  • PhD in Biology, Pharmacology, biochemistry, chemical biology or related scientific discipline with 4 – 7+ years of hands-on small molecule drug discovery experience in an industry setting
  • Prior experience in advancing targets into the drug discovery portfolio with deep understanding of pathway signaling, assay development and compound screening
  • Solid understanding of genetics and genomics is required with expertise in multiple methods of genetic perturbation both in vitro and in vivo (siRNA, shRNA, CRISPR using lentivirus and RNPs, inducible systems)
  • Prior experience in running gain-of-function genetic screens is considered a plus
  • Enjoys developing, implementing and/or trouble shooting new scientific methods and techniques to address scientific challenges.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of small molecule drug development, biomarker discovery, in vivo assessment of chemical matter to establish PK/PD and efficacy relationships is considered a plus
  • Exceptional scientific rigor and commitment to the highest-quality research with outstanding organizational abilities and scientific execution
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

As a member of our diverse and growing team, you’ll help shape us into a company that takes its scientific mission seriously while providing a positive and supportive workplace environment and culture. With your insights, passion and talent – we’ll bring novel therapeutics to the patients who need them the most.
